Introduction
This report relates to the study of the abiotic and biotic characteristics of the Home Bush mangrove ecosystem and the relationships that occur between them. This report will demonstrate how to conduct experiments that test the environmental conditions within the ecosystem such as the relative humidity and the salinity of water. This report also discusses how these organisms interact through food chains, webs and pyramids, that indicate how the biomass of the ecosystem is divided.
The mangroves studied in this report are located in Bicentennial Park at Home Bush (8 Australia Ave, Sydney Olympic Park NSW 2127). Bicentennial park is a diverse nature park which rejuvenated the Home Bush bay mangroves as the surrounding area had become an industrial dumping site. The site where the Home Bush mangroves are located is now described as an "attractive urban oasis", which now entices many locals for leisure activities such as walking, picnics, bike riding and fitness regimes. Home Bush bay is located 12 kilometres away from Sydney of the southern side of Parramatta river.
